People are more familiar with the word "cataclysm" than "catechism". That's where we have gotten as a culture.

The catechism was the original "Guide to following Jesus." This is a way of construing the Gospel from within the worldview of a people-group. Their questions are answered from a biblical perspective. It is a pastor's task.
The structure of a catechism is simple and very profound.
The question: What do you believe about "x"?
The answer: We believe "y".
The scripture text. This is the best part. The part the Holy Spirit promises to anchor in peoples' hearts. Often, they memorize them.
The catechism is now done in first draft, adapted into Njyem from Nzime.
The Njyem people are indiscriminate, always wanting what their neighbors, the Nzime, have. Now they too can read about what the Bible contains and why it matters above all that they should become followers of Jesus Christ... Jesus the Messiah.

What Are You Doing Now?
In Yaounde, I am writing an orthography statement for the Njyem language to accompany the transition primer that is now being used by Njyem both here in Yaounde and in the villages. We have received a lot of feedback from them about the primer, and we are now close to publishing it. This would require a completed orthography statement.

How to access the pictures accompanying text?
It is possible to save a copy the pictures of this blog on your computer so that you can enlarge it and print it. In Windows Internet Explorer, the way I do it is left-click the picture once and then wait until the picture comes up on its own window. At that time, you click "Page" on the light blue tool bar and then click "SaveAs" in the drop-down window. Then you tell the browser where to save the file on your computer.

Who are you ?
- Keith Beavon
- Yaounde, Central Province, Cameroon
- What motivates me is 1.) the joy of being a blood-bought, born-again, Spirit-filled, Bible-believing temple of Yahweh. And 2) that there are many who aren't for no reason but their lack of linguistic resources. They cannot hear the message yet. Mary and I hope to address some of their needs, responding to their requests. We welcome others joining our team through becoming members of Wycliffe Bible Translators.

Unfunded Projects for Your Consideration
What projects do we see as being particuliarly deserving of your gifts?
1. Help Ekoalea Maurice find the rest of the funds for his education. He was the translator of the Badwe'e New Testament and now he wants to finish the 3rd and 4th years of seminary at UPAC so he can serve the Lord more as a Presbyterian Pastor and as an exegete for the Old Testament. He has some of the funds for the training from the church and from a support team in Yaounde, but he needs the rest.
2. Help the Roman Catholic community to find the funds needed for the building of their sanctuary and parsonage. The Bishop, Msr Jan Odza, writes:

Par la présente j'approuve le projet que vous présente le Père Tarcisisus MPA, Curé de la paroisse Saint Marc de Ngoïla.
Cette paroisse a été érigée il y a quelques années, et ne disposait à ce moment que des structures dérisoires, qui demandent aujourd'hui à être refectionnées. La population locale n'étant pas à mesure de répondre à cette exigence, le Curé se trouve contraint de tendre la main vers l'extérieur.
Je reste donc favorable à cette demande, et vous remercie déjà pour votre soutien bienfaisant.
